Call for Editors
AJSS is actively inviting new students and early-career scholars from the University of Amsterdam to join the editorial team and help ensure the academic quality and smooth workings of the journal. Applicants from all disciplines of Social Sciences and all study stages are encouraged to apply, to ensure the academic diversity of the team.
This is an opportunity not only to network and help us in our goal of making academia more accessible but also to develop your scientific skills and be inspired by the work of other budding academics.
As an editor at the AJSS you will be reviewing submissions according to the guidelines of our Editor’s Checklist. In doing so, the editorial team also determines if an article is ready to be published, has to be reviewed, or is to be rejected. In the revision process, you facilitate communication between the reviewers and the author. Additionally, you will be handling abstracting and indexing services that are necessary for the editorial processes.

Communication Officer &
Community Builder
As a communication officer at the AJSS your role is to provide the journal with clear communication internally and externally.
This entails the mediation of the communication between the different teams of the AJSS and the communication towards students, academics, and professionals outside the AJSS. In doing so, the communication officers develop a strategy of a more general way in which the communication of the journal should be developed.
Additionally, there are some administrative tasks, including keeping track of contact details of relevant people and members, taking notes in meetings, and structuring our files.

Community Builder
Would you like to organize events and build a community for a student-led academic journal? AJSS is looking for community builders! As an academic journal led by students, AJSS aims to allow students to get familiar with the diverse processes that take place in a journal. Besides offering experience in the academic process of publishing, the AJSS also wants to create an environment in which students from different disciplines work together and exchange ideas and experiences.
As a community builder for the AJSS, you play a pivotal role in engaging with our diverse community of students, academics, and professionals to strengthen the community, impact, and outreach of the AJSS. In doing so, the team of community builders develops a strategy to enhance the visibility and stability of the AJSS at the University of Amsterdam and beyond. You will organize events, and workshops, while also seeking out external opportunities to enhance the journal's progression.
